Hey y’all, I was challenged by a fellow blogger amusing2writenc.wordpress.com to participate in this challenge. Basically I have to post three consecutive days, three quotes each day and send the challenge on to three other bloggers. So here it goes.
Day One: Theme: reading quotes
- “Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read.” -Groucho Marx.
This has been a favorite of mine for a long time, it combines my two favorites books and dogs! I am a sucker for intelligent humor as well.
2. “Reading gives us some place to go when we have to stay where we are.” -Mason Cooley
One of my fondest memories of childhood was getting so lost in a book, it seemed surreal to come back to the time and place I was actually in. My favorite books as an adult also sweep me away and make me unaware of time.
3. “The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them.” – Mark Twain
Reading, literacy is one of the things that separates us from the rest of the animals on the planet. It is a gift. It can be a life changer. It should be partaken of on a daily basis. It makes me sad when I will encounter someone who chooses not to read.
I hope you enjoyed my selections. Tune in tomorrow for my theme, words to live by and on Tuesday for quotes involving my beloved southern lowcountry.
Today I extend this challenge to three blogs I follow relating to books and writing.
A Writer’s Path: excellent resource for writers
Jennifer Keishin Armstrong: another great resource
www.bublish.com: not a blog, but they have a blog on their site. They are a great resource for readers and writers, if you have not explored them I highly recommend that you do. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter as well.
Loved the Grouch Marx quote. Kudos! 🙂

Hi Julie,
Unfortunately, I can’t post my quotes about reading on the Bublish blog because we already have a post scheduled for this week. However, I will post them here (and on Facebook). Great challenge, Julie!
1. “We read to know we are not alone.” — C.S. Lewis
2. “Books are a uniquely portable magic.” — Stephen King
3. “A house without books is like a room without windows.” — Heinrich Mann
